System Architect

Summary

As a System Architect in FINEOS, you will work across product delivery to ensure market requirements are met with enterprise solutions that are cloud ready, maintainable, extendable and place a focus on quality. 

Working in a Scaled Agile environment, the System Architect will work with product management to understand customer needs, map these to the FINEOS Product Suite, and work with cross functional scrum teams to deliver high quality software.  

Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)

• Early engagement with our business sponsors to understand the business value for product enhancements, contributing to the understanding and definition of high-level requirements through research, analysis, spikes or exploration activities. 

• Translate complex business requirements to technical solutions and provide sizing indication that will inform return on investment calculations and support early planning. 

• Understand, analyse and challenge customer and market requirements and business value, identifying matches to the existing FINEOS core product functionality or product gaps. 

• Lead solution definition for 3 scrum teams plus

• Work with Architects on the same Value stream and across Value Streams

• Design of scalable and performant systems

• Coach and mentors Engineering Teams

Education and/or Experience     

• 10+ years working with JEE Solutions and Products

• A relevant third level qualification or equivalent commercial experience in software engineering

• Proven ability to drive solutions and build relationships across geographically distributed teams and dispersed timezones.

• Successful delivery of Java Enterprise based products that are available as a service in AWS. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of Java and JEE in order to guide technical solutions.

• Cloud Engineering and designing systems with cloud native characteristics with experience in AWS or Azure.

• Software automation and DevOps practices including managing and running CI/CD pipelines. 

• Good understanding of Product SDLC and proven ability to influence practices and standards in a pre-emptive manner.

Technical Skills

• Java, JEE, REST, SOAP ORM.

• Data modelling, prototyping and process tracking tools, e.g. Visual Paradigm, Balsamiq, MS Visio, Jira, etc.

• Cloud Based Technologies (AWS) and design patterns.

• Docker tooling and containerization. 

Language Skills

• Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.

Travel Requirements

• This position may require adhoc occasional travel.
