Cloud Operations Architect

Summary

The Cloud Operations Architect function is responsible for the development, support, and automation of tooling and platforms.

 

The successful candidate will use their deep technical expertise of AWS, networking, and operating systems, coordinating with the FINEOS Enterprise Architects and CIA delivery teams.

 

This role generally works a standard business week (EMEA / NA business hours), but occasional weekend work / out of hours may be required.

 

Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Assessing the operational readiness of solutions as they transition into production service.
  • Design, including documentation, automation features for the development team.
  • Preparing the documentation and knowledge transfer of features being handed over to operations from engineering.

Education and/or Experience             

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Efficient cross-functional leadership skills as you will be working with engineering and support teams to ensure systems are secure and available.
  • Functional expert in the field of relational database engineering.
  • Strong operational experience in an enterprise setting.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure operations for a complex enterprise application portfolio hosted on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with the administration of commercial web services, PaaS, SaaS, or IaaS.
  • Experience of performing diagnostic, performance, and systems administration.
  • 5 plus years of experience in Oracle database administration, engineering, or development.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, and common Internet protocols, in-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP Stack DNS, SMTP and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience investigating security issues and / or performance and / or complex operational issues on AWS and Linux using/ analysing system and logs where appropriate.

Technical Skills

  • Experience in automation.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies: Cloud Formation, EC2, S3, EMR, ECS, ECR, CodeDeploy, Autoscale, Cloudwatch.
  • Familiarity & understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and command line with ability to administer common Unix services (HTTPD, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, LDAP).

Language Skills

  • Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.
