Summary
The FINEOS Engineering Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the people, technical capability and delivery effectiveness of one or more Product Engineering teams.
The Engineering Manager leads high-performing teams responsible for the design, development, testing and maintenance of FINEOS products. The role is accountable for building team capability, fostering engineering excellence and ensuring the successful delivery of customer and business outcomes.
Working closely with Product Management, Architecture and Engineering Leadership, the Engineering Manager promotes a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, quality and innovation while supporting the growth and development of team members.
Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
Provide technical, delivery and people leadership across one or more cross-functional Product Engineering teams, ensuring successful business outcomes while maintaining high standards of quality, security and engineering excellence.
- Ability to identify, deliver and drive improvements and innovations within Product Engineering and FINEOS.
- Lead, coach and develop team members through regular feedback, goal setting, mentoring, performance management and career development planning.
- Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as an escalation point where appropriate.
- Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to support backlog readiness, prioritisation and release planning activities.
- Proactively manage dependencies, risks and impediments affecting delivery commitments and team effectiveness.
- Ensure products meet established standards for quality, security, reliability, maintainability and performance.
- Help build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it.
- Champion Agile delivery practices and continuously improve team effectiveness through coaching, facilitation and operational leadership.
- Conduct performance reviews and talent assessments.
- Support succession planning and leadership development.
- Partner with HR & Recruitment to recruit and retain high-performing engineering professionals.
- Foster a culture of inclusion, collaboration and psychological safety.
- Champion engineering excellence through adoption of coding standards, automation and software engineering best practices.
- Drive the effective management of technical debt and long-term platform sustainability.
- Partner with Architects and Technical Leads to guide technical direction and solution quality.
- Leverage engineering metrics and operational insights to drive continuous improvement and delivery effectiveness.
- Promote customer-centric decision making across engineering teams.
- Support customer escalations and production issue management where required.
- Ensure teams understand customer needs and business value.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience leading software engineering teams within Agile delivery environments.
- Line Management Experience including performance appraisals of direct reports.
- Agile certifications (e.g. Scrum Master, SAFe or equivalent) are desirable but not required.
- Evidence of successfully leading and delivering medium and large projects using agile techniques
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices, including Scrum, Kanban, backlog refinement, estimation techniques and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated people management experience including performance and talent development.
- Proven track record delivering enterprise software products or programmes.
- Experience leading geographically distributed teams is desirable.

- Experience working within scaled Agile delivery models, including SAFe or equivalent frameworks.

- Experience operating within scaled Agile environments.
Technical Skills
- Experience in software engineering, quality engineering, technical leadership or solution delivery roles.
- Understanding of modern software engineering practices including:
- CI/CD
- Automated testing
- DevOps principles
- Secure software development
- Cloud-based delivery models
- Experience with Java technologies and enterprise software products is desirable.
Language Skills
- Ability to speak the English language proficiently, both verbally and in writing.
Travel Requirements
This position may require adhoc occasional travel.

Work Requirements

- On occasion after delivery of certain features you may be required to provide support outside of normal working hours and weekends for a roll out of these features. You will receive advance notice of this scenario should it be required.
