Senior Test Engineer

Summary 

The Senior Test Engineer ensures delivery of high-quality, user-focused software. The role leads test strategy development, automation initiatives, and continuous quality improvement across projects. 

 

Responsibilities 

• Design, develop, and maintain automated and manual test plans, cases, and scripts. 

• Lead testing across implementation projects, ensuring quality and best practice. 

• Develop a strong understanding of system functionality, requirements, and business objectives. 

• Interpret complex specifications to define test conditions and required test data. 

• Produce clear documentation to support QA and testing processes. 

• Log precise defects in Jira and collaborate with teams to resolve them quickly. 

• Work closely with Development to embed quality throughout the lifecycle. 

• Mentor junior QA engineers and support ongoing process improvements. 

• Drive test automation and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines. 

• Conduct root cause analysis and support corrective measures. 

• Ensure performance, scalability, and security testing are considered in project plans. 

 

Education and/or Experience 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 

• 5+ years’ software testing experience. 

• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes. 

• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and cloud-based applications (AWS). 

• Insurance industry or FINEOS product knowledge (highly desirable). 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

• Proficiency with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, SahiPro). 

• Ability to query relational databases using SQL. 

• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab. 

• Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner). 

• Experience with Jira and Quality Center. 

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to quickly absorb information and manage deadlines. 

• Strong interpersonal and customer-facing skills. 

• Willingness to travel on site to customer when needed. 

 

Technical Skills 

• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

• Familiar with Windows Operating System. 

• Experience with automated testing (e.g., Selenium) and API testing tools (SOAP UI). 

• Exposure to Agile testing methods. 

 

Language Skills 

Fluent spoken and written English.
