SVP, Claims and Absence (North America)
FINEOS is a leading provider of core systems for life, accident and health insurers globally with 7 of the 10 largest group life and health carriers in the US as well as 6 of the largest life insurers in Australia. The FINEOS Platform provides clients the only complete end-to-end SaaS core product suite that includes FINEOS AdminSuite enabling quote to claim administration as well as add-on products, FINEOS Engage to support digital engagement and FINEOS Insight for analytics and reporting.
Summary
The SVP, Claims and Absence defines and drives product vision, direction and market positioning of FINEOS’ Claims, Absence, and Integrated Disability and Absence Management (IDAM) products in North America.
Operating as a key member of the senior leadership team, this role influences industry direction, shapes market positioning and represents FINEOS at executive forums. The role helps customers optimize their ROI and outcomes, and helps drive growth for the FINEOS Platform overall, the industry’s leading employee benefits administration solution.
This leader will advance FINEOS’ Claims and Absence offerings across core capabilities including back‑office functions, digital self‑service, reporting, and AI‑driven capabilities. They will lead strategy, positioning and thought leadership for the Claims and Absence product suite, influencing carriers, TPAs, employers, and the broader market.
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, they will lead and manage the Claims and Absence product management team, R&D budgets, and feature prioritization, overseeing product delivery inputs and outcomes.
North America is the preferred location for this role. However, other locations will be considered.
Responsibilities
Product & Market Leadership
- Set direction and drive execution of the North American Claims and Absence strategy.
- Continuously identify new product opportunities and emerging trends in Claims and Absence, digital engagement, AI / analytics, and HR ecosystem integrations.
- Translate strategic market needs into product, technology, and AI opportunities that generate efficiencies, productivity gains, and revenue growth.
- Negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure priority capabilities are being delivered on time and on budget.
- Represent FINEOS externally as industry thought leader via customer events, conferences, webinars, and industry publications.
- Shape product positioning and product marketing direction.
Strategy, Roadmap & Delivery
- Own product investment decisions and trade-offs.
- Ensure priority capabilities are researched, scoped, delivered, and aligned with budget and timelines through effective negotiation with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead processes to evaluate and prioritize business, regulatory, and operational feature candidates, balancing customer demands with market expectations.
- Oversee definition of requirements, measurement of success criteria, and delivery of features and epics in alignment with the strategic roadmap.
Customer & Sales Engagement
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success to drive revenue and expansion.
- Help ensure customers are optimizing the benefits of their FINEOS solutions. Drive expansion and adoption across the installed base.
- Lead executive customer engagements, solutioning sessions, and sales presentations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing product management team by selecting, developing, coaching, and motivating team members.
- Foster a diverse, collaborative, and high-engagement team culture.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
- Ideally 15+ years of experience in the world of disability claims, voluntary benefits, and absence management, including accommodations and regulatory compliance. Includes working with carriers at executive level.
- Experience with disability claims systems, supplemental benefits, and leave management technology.
- Experience and proven success in product strategy, product development/management, and/or regulatory support.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams.

Travel Requirements
- USA base preferred.
- 20–30% travel required, including international travel.
- Ability to attend conferences, customer engagements, internal workshops.
Work Environment
- Primarily a home office-based role.
- The home office must be a dedicated workspace equipped with required technology (computer, phone, printer, scanner, etc.).
